EUR200 SAFETY 'GIFT' TRAVEL SCHEME.

Byline: By VICTORIA MURPHY

ACASH bonus for bus drivers who go for a year without crashing is set to be replaced by gift vouchers, it was claimed yesterday.

A EUR200 bonus for careful Bus Eireann drivers is currently added to their pay packet once every 12 months.

But the company is set to change its policy for tax reasons and now plans to thank drivers with EUR200 gift vouchers instead.

A spokesman for Bus Eireann said of the original scheme: "It's basically to award drivers who drive accident-free."

But it was reported the firm are now looking for a company to supply them with "gift vouchers which will be used as part of a safe driving award scheme".
