EUAN C. MENZIES AND RUSSELL C. WHITE NAMED PRESIDENT AND CEO'S OF RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF AMERICA AND WARREN GORHAM LAMONT, RESPECTIVELY

STAMFORD, Conn., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Euan C. Menzies has been named president and chief executive officer of Research Institute of America (RIA), and Russell C. White, president and chief executive officer of Warren Gorham Lamont (WGL), it was announced today by Richard J. Harrington, president and chief executive officer of Thomson Professional Publishing, which includes both RIA and WGL as well as Lawyers Cooperative Publishing, Clark Boardman Callaghan, and other professional publishing units.
According to Mr. Harrington, "Lou Lucareli, who was president and chief executive officer of the combined RIA-WGL operation, RIA, Inc., has decided to pursue other opportunities. Both companies greatly acknowledge his valuable contributions to their growth."
Explaining the separation of RIA and WGL, Mr. Harrington pointed out, "Combining RIA and WGL under one roof is no longer necessary since the Maxwell Macmillan publications, which became part of Thomson in 1991, are now successfully integrated into the product lines of both RIA and WGL. The former Maxwell Macmillan titles complement RIA and WGL product lines, substantially strengthening both entities, further delineating them in distinctly different marketing directions."
Mr. Menzies served most recently as senior vice president of operations for Thomson Professional Publishing and previous responsibilities included managing Thomson's manufacturing and distribution unit in Webster, N.Y. This unit employs nearly 800 people and produces print, composition, bindery and distribution services to Thomson Professional Publishing companies.
For the past four years, Mr. White was executive vice president of the McGraw Hill Construction Information Group, which includes Dodge, Sweet's, and the construction industry magazines Architectural Record and Engineering News Record.
"Both Euan and Russ are well-qualified to carry forth and build the businesses of their respective companies as each faces an era of new and exciting growth opportunities," Mr. Harrington said.
Based in New York City, RIA is a leading publisher of analyses of tax legislation, pensions and related areas. Its electronic publishing group is based in Walnut Creek, Calif., and develops and supports state- of-the-art electronic tax research products.
