EU urges dialogue in Bahrain.

BRUSSELS, March 15 (KUNA) - The European Union expressed Tuesday its

concern over the violence in Bahrain and called for dialogue to resolve the

current crisis.

"We are very concerned about the serious violence on the streets of

Bahrain. We take note that security forces belonging to Gulf Cooperation

Council countries are being deployed in Bahrain following the request of the

government of Bahrain, " Maja Kocijancic , spokesperson for EU foreign policy

chief Catherine Ashton, told a news conference here this afternoon.

"As we have stated in the past we believe that the dialogue is the only way

to solve the current crisis. We repeat the call we have already made in the

past on all sides to exercise the outmost restraint and calm in order to avoid

further casualties and turmoil, " she said.

"We also call on the security forces present to respect human rights and

fundamental freedom including the right to assemble freely and peacefully.

We also urge all sides to take necessary steps to create the conditions and

engage in serious and comprehensive dialogue without delay, " added the

spokesperson.
