EU to blame.

SIR - Reference Bryn Hollywell's letter 'EU deserves praise'.

I can assure Bryn that the Amsterdam Treaty 1997, also signed in secrecy and contrary to UK law, does make energy policy, and town and country planning, to be matters to be determined by qualified majority voting by the council of ministers (ie. the heads of state of each member country) and by the European Parliament.

Here, it seems to me, that the Welsh Assembly Government gets unfairly blamed for unpopular and heartless decisions that have in fact been imposed upon it by the EU.

In this connection, I could argue conclusively that the dogma that man-made carbon-dioxide emissions are the cause of rising global temperatures, is a load of eye-wash, but it would be of no avail against this huge remote body of lawmakers.
