EU Commissioner to speak at dairy event.

Eu Commissioner Franz Fischler is to meet livestock farmers and address the industry at the Dairy Event 2004, on Thursday, September 23, the second day of Europe's premier two-day event to be staged at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, by its organisers the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers.

Mr Fischler will make the keynote address at the Spotlight on Profit Forums, focusing on the newly enlarged EU and the impact of the accession states on the dairy industry.

"We're delighted Franz Fischler has accepted our invitation to attend the event," said RABDF's chief executive Nick Everington.

"In addition to providing insight into the future of dairying in the 25-member Europe, his visit will provide farmers with an opportunity to learn more about current policy issues which will in turn help them to formulate business strategies in readiness to respond to MTR."

More than 350 exhibitors are booked for the event.
