ETI ANNOUNCES A RESELLER AGREEMENT WITH PYRAMID TECHNOLOGIES TO SELL ETI'S EXTRACT PRODUCT

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 16 ~PRNewswire~ -- Evolutionary Technologies Incorporated (ETI) announces a major reseller agreement with Pyramid Technology Corporation for its EXTRACT Data Conversion Tool Suite. Pyramid Technology Corporation of San Jose Calif., who recently announced a new series of mainframe-class Unix systems, will use the EXTRACT tools as part of its strategy to provide tools that help data center incorporate new open systems technologies.
The EXTRACT products from ETI automatically generate programs that move data among dissimilar systems. For Pyramid customers, this provides a way to migrate legacy data to the Pyramid solution, or create "data bridges" that integrate new Unix-based systems into an existing data center. Because the EXTRACT tools can move data to and from any database or file format, customers with any type of legacy databases can choose from several databases offered on the Pyramid platform, and move data at their own pace.
"Other tools are available to migrate application code to a Unix environment , but EXTRACT is the only tool we've found that can address all the different kinds of data formats our customers have. The capability to move 'from any to any' is very important to customers, who have systems of every description in their shop", said Deborah Stanley, Pyramid's vice president of Marketing in charge of their data center strategy. "Almost every customer wants to move to open systems, but they ask us 'how are you going to help me get there?' EXTRACT is the solution when it comes to moving data."
Under the reseller agreement, Pyramid can resell the EXTRACT products worldwide to end users through its direct sales force and through its distributors, which included AT&T, Ollivetti, and Seimens- Nixdorf.
"We have been approached by several hardware vendors, but Pyramid has really addressed the data migration and bridging problem head-on", said Robin Curle, ETI's Executive Vice President. "They have recognized that a vendor has to provide a solution, not just a better machine. EXTRACT Tool Suite will enable lots of data centers incorporate open systems and implement right-sizing strategies without requiring an army of programmers writing data conversion programs. With EXTRACT, they can accomplish their goals with about one-tenth the programming time and cost."
Evolutionary Technologies, Inc. (ETI) is the first spin-out from Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation (MCC) created to commercialize and market software technology developed at the research consortium. ETI was founded on Jan. 1, 1991 and shipped its first product on Sept. 16, 1991. ETI is funded by Admiral Bobby Inman and Menlo Ventures. Additional shareholders include MCC and the Company's founders and employees.
ETI's first set of products addresses the huge and costly business problem of data conversion and data bridging in heterogeneous computing environments. The Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies spend billions each year writing and maintaining programs that transfer data between databases and applications running on different hardware and software platforms. The EXTRACT Tool Suite is designed to cut an organization's cost of data conversion by up to 95 percent.
