ESSEX CORPORATION CONTINUES AS MOTOROLA IRIDIUM(TM)(SM) SYSTEM CONTRACTOR, RECEIVES ADDED FUNDS

 COLUMBIA, Md., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Essex Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: ESEX), one of the first subcontractors to Motorola for the Iridium worldwide cellular communications satellite system, received additional funding for continued engineering support. Working closely with Motorola engineers, Essex communications engineers have been named in two Motorola patent applications. Essex began systems engineering and analysis services in March 1990, well before the unique system was announced to the world, and has received in excess of $2.5 million in funding to date. The new funds will bring the level of effort above $1 million per year.
