ESKIMO PIE NAMES HERZOG AS NEW CFO

RICHMOND, Va., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Eskimo Pie Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: EPIE) announced today that John T. Herzog will join the Company as Chief Financial Officer effective June 7, 1993. He is to succeed William M. Fariss, Jr.
Herzog first became associated with Eskimo Pie in 1991 in his capacity as a Vice President of Corporate Finance at Wheat, First Securities, Inc., while Wheat served as underwriter for the Company's Initial Public Offering.
Mr. Herzog, a 1985 graduate of Williams College, began his career in New York in the mergers and acquisitions department of The First Boston Corporation. He was with First Boston for approximately five years before joining Wheat First Securities in August of 1990, where he specialized in consumer and food related companies.
William M. Fariss, who began his career with Reynolds Metals, will retire with over 42 years of service. Mr. Fariss became an officer of the Company in 1963 and has been a Board member since 1970. He was instrumental in the financial planning that took the Company public in 1992.
"Mr. Fariss will continue to serve on the Board," says David V. Clark, Chairman and CEO of Eskimo, "allowing us the benefit of his comprehensive knowledge of the Company's history." Clark adds, "Looking to the future, Mr. Herzog's vast experience in acquisitions will be a key element in potential growth of Eskimo Pie Corporation."
Headquartered in Richmond, Va., Eskimo Pie created the frozen novelty industry in 1921 with the invention of the ESKIMO PIE ice cream bar. The Company markets branded frozen novelties, including its ESKIMO PIE line of products, and, under a licensing agreement, Welch's frozen fruit juice bars, through a national network of licensed manufacturers. This spring, the Company also began to market, through licensing agreements, two new frozen novelty brands: Tootsie Pops and Ghirardelli ice cream bars.
