EQUITABLE RESOURCES AND TEXAS EASTERN ANNOUNCE OPEN SEASON FOR PENNSYLVANIA STORAGE FIELD PARTNERSHIP

 PITTSBURGH, July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Riverside Gas Storage Company, a recently formed general partnership between subsidiaries of Equitrans, Inc. -- the interstate pipeline unit of Equitable Resources, Inc. (NYSE: EQT) -- and Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation (TETCO), is developing a new market-area natural gas storage field with approximately 3.1 billion cubic feet of working storage capacity.
 The Riverside Gas Storage Company facility will offer firm services designed to meet customer base-load and peak-day requirements and interruptible services used for transportation balancing or short-term supply/demand swings.
 The services will be provided on a non-discriminatory open access basis. An open season to nominate for service will begin at 9 a.m. EDT, July 9, 1993, and conclude at 6 p.m. EDT, July 30, 1993.  The companies forming the equal partnership, ET Storage Company and Texas Eastern Riverside Company, intend to have the field available for service on or about April 1, 1995, in time for spring injection. Located in southwestern Pennsylvania's Greene and Fayette counties, the storage field will be operated by Equitrans.
 ET Storage was formed in July 1992, to develop natural gas storage through joint ventures. Equitrans, Inc., a subsidiary of Equitable Resources, Inc., operates gas transmission and storage facilities in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. It provides market area service in nine states from New England to Virginia.
 Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation is a subsidiary of Panhandle Eastern Corporation (NYSE: PEL), which operates one of the nation's largest interstate natural gas pipeline systems, providing natural gas transportation and related services to the Midwest and Northeast markets.
