ATLANTA, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Equifax Inc. (NYSE: EFX) announced today it has signed a letter of intent to acquire all of the assets of Cooperative Healthcare Networks (CHN), a subsidiary of BellSouth Enterprises.
Alpharetta, Ga.-based Cooperative Healthcare Networks is a leading supplier of automated health care information services linking providers, payers and plan managers.
C.B. (Jack) Rogers Jr., Equifax chairman and chief executive officer, said, "The CHN acquisition supports our vision to become the market leader in integrating information and decision support services with all segments of health care delivery."
The purchase by Equifax is subject to, and conditioned upon, the execution of a definitive agreement and approval by Equifax and BellSouth and appropriate regulatory agencies.
Rogers added: "CHN's electronic claims processing and eligibility and benefit verification services complement the information analysis offerings of Health Economics Corporation, a 1992 acquisition by Equifax. We are committed to meeting the needs of the evolving health care information industry as it deals with continuing complexities. Equifax is able to meet this challenge through our core competencies: information processing, data base management and leading-edge technology."
"BellSouth has provided us tremendous leadership, growth, and strategic direction," said Joseph S. Bigley, CHN president and chief executive officer.
