EQUIFAX ACQUIRES COOPERATIVE HEALTHCARE NETWORKS

 ATLANTA, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Equifax Inc. (NYSE: EFX) has acquired Cooperative Healthcare Networks (CHN), of Alpharetta, Ga., from BellSouth Enterprises.
 The two companies had signed a letter of intent for the acquisition on Sept. 8.
 C.B. Rogers Jr., Equifax chairman and chief executive officer, said: "Cooperative Healthcare Networks is an excellent fit with Equifax's core competencies of information processing, data base management and leading- edge technology. It also provides Equifax with additional capabilities to meet the health care information needs of our customers."
 Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
 CHN, a national leader in the electronic processing of health care transactions, operates StatLink(tm), a powerful family of state-of-the- art electronic data interchange products and services designed to improve the efficiency of health care information transactions. StatLink product features include electronic all-payer insurance claims submission, eligibility and benefits verification, pre-admission certification, HMO and other managed care referral processing, claims status reporting, electronic remittance advice, financial transactions, medical information services, and credit card processing. Today StatLink is simplifying paper work for providers, payers, and plan managers in more than 12 states, yielding more than 18 million transactions a year.
