EQUESTRIAN: Swain gain after double qualifier joy.

LAPWORTH rider Jo Swain is competing in one of the biggest senior dressage championships in Britain this weekend.

Jo qualified for the National Winter Dressage Championships at Solihull after winning the novice freestyle section of the regional championships in Hertfordshire.

She performed a test she devised herself, riding the impressive six-year- old Oldenburg horse Donnerklein and finished nearly 16 marks clear of the field.

Jo also has her other horse, Lord of the Rings, through to the national championship, after the 17hh five-year- old was placed in the Midlands regional finals in Buckinghamshire with her friend Sally Chadwick in the saddle.

"We took Lord of the Rings to a different regional final so my two horses wouldn't be competing against each other," said Jo, who runs the Swallowfield Equestrian Centre at Lapworth.
