The retail division of Emirates Petroleum Products Company (EPPCO) will open 28 convenience stores in the metro, reported Arabian Business on Tuesday.

The company took over a contract that had been awarded to rival Last Minute; the retailer forfeited a deposit and walked away from the deal after the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) failed to give written guarantees on the date the stations will open.

The RTA has said there will be 52 convenience stores on the Red and Green Lines.
