EPA SELECTS 'NO ACTION' RECORD OF DECISION FOR THE WILSON CONCEPTS
SUPERFUND SITE IN POMPANO BEACH, FLA.
ATLANTA, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced today that a Record of Decision (ROD) has been signed for the Wilson Concepts Superfund site in Pompano Beach, Fla.
The ROD outlines the remedy that will be used to address groundwater contamination at the site.
EPA, in consultation with the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation, has selected a "No Action with Monitoring" remedy. Groundwater monitoring will be conducted for one year. The results of the Remedial Investigation (RI) and Baseline Risk Assessment indicate that natural processes have gradually reduced concentrations of contaminants to levels which do not pose an unacceptable threat from exposure; therefore, public health and the environment are protected.
The ROD and the Administrative Record, a compilation of documents which formed the basis for EPA's selection of the remedy, are available for public review at the Broward County Main Library, Government Documents Department, 100 South Andrews Avenue, NE, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The Wilson Concepts site is located on a two-acre parcel of land at 1408 SW Eighth Street in Pompano Beach, Fla. The company operated as a manufacturing and metal finishing facility. The facility is now operated by Carter and Crawley, a metal finishing company.
