EPA APPROVES 1992 VECTOR W8 SUPERCAR; SHIPS TWO NEW VECTORS TO EUROPE
WILMINGTON, Calif., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) formally approved the Vector W8 TwinTurbo Super Car for 1992. Vector Aeromotive Corporation (NASDAQ: VCAR) President and Chairman Gerald A. Wiegert announced today that Vector's certification documentation and final paperwork was officially approved and received by the company in writing. Vector first received certification in the summer of 1991 and it was a milestone accomplishment for the NASDAQ traded company. "The American manufactured Vector W8 TwinTurbo is the most powerful automobile to ever receive EPA certification," stated David Kostka, vice president of engineering. "It was our founder's objective to build an environmentally safe high performance collectible automobile and we have accomplished that goal."
Vector Aeromotive has shipped two more of its hand built Vector W8's to Europe, one to Hooper & Co. (Coachbuilders) LTD in Great Britain, the renowned builder of custom Rolls Royce and Bentley automobiles. The reason given by Hooper for buying the Vector was that it is the best built car in the world in the owner of the company's opinion. Hooper & Co. (Coachbuilders) LTD has been building its own custom handcrafted Rolls Royces and Bentleys since 1903 and horse drawn coaches for Royal Families of Europe since 1805.
"We are proud that such a world famous company would purchase an American built Vector W8 automobile from us," said Wiegert.
Vector Aeromotive Corporation is America's only EPA-certified supercar manufacturer. The $437,000 Vector W8 TwinTurbo has received confirmed independent performance tests rating the Vector as having zero to 60 mph capability at 3.7 seconds and quarter-mile time of 12 seconds flat at 124 mph. Vector Aeromotive Corporation is a publicly owned company and is based in Wilmington at the World Port of Los Angeles.
