EON LINKS WITH INTUIT TO INTRODUCE INTERACTIVE TELEVISION CONVENIENCE TO HOME FINANCIAL SERVICE PROGRAMS

RESTON, Va., July 18 /PRNewswire/ -- EON Corporation (EON) of Reston, Va., and Intuit, Inc. (NASDAQ: INTU), of Menlo Park, Calif., today announced that they are working together to develop a system that will allow consumers to operate personal financial computer programs through the ease and convenience of their home television sets. EON was formerly known as TV Answer, Inc.
Intuit is the leading developer of personal finance software, including Quicken, the nation's most widely-used personal finance program. Since its introduction in 1984, more than 5 million copies of Quicken have been sold, accounting for more than 60 percent of personal finance software sold.
Using products and services developed by Intuit and EON, consumers will be able to use their televisions to perform financial tasks such as organizing personal finances, reconciling and updating accounts, checking outstanding transactions and reviewing the financial performance of selected accounts. This is considered to be the first phase of a multitiered program in which EON's system may be adapted to other Intuit personal finance services and products. Intuit also could incorporate EON's technology into its marketing and service programs to offer consumers related supplies and services.
"Intuit's mission has always been to bring the benefits of technology to the masses in automating their financial work. Providing financial services and products on interactive TV is a logical extension of our core business. EON is an ideal partner because they will be the first interactive TV provider with national coverage, with service expected to roll out in fall 1993," said Scott Cook, CEO of Intuit.
"This arrangement means a great opportunity for both companies -- and a new world of convenience for consumers," said David Lehman, EON's president and chief executive officer. "Intuit adds an important personal service to the array of providers EON will offer consumers as the service rolls out. At the same time, Intuit will have created a delivery platform that will make it potentially accessible to every television household in America. Intuit is the ideal partner for EON because they have 10 years of experience in personal finance."
