 EOG PARENT GIVES $25,000
TO RED CROSS FOR ANDREW VICTIMS
CLEVELAND, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The East Ohio Gas Company announced today that it's parent company had contributed $25,000 to the Southeast Louisiana chapter of the American Red Cross to aid it's employees and other victims of Hurricane Andrew.
"The Consolidated Natural Gas (CNG) Company Foundation made the contribution, from stockholder funds, to help in the recovery effort now underway," said Russell R. Gifford, president and CEO. Gifford also serves as chairman of the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The East Ohio Gas Company Fund, also stockholder-funded, recently committed to make a contribution of $18,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Fund, Gifford said.
"One of our sister companies, CNG Producing Company, is headquartered in New Orleans. With more than 500 employees, CNG Producing is the largest independent natural gas producer in the Gulf of Mexico region," he said. "Many of us at East Ohio Gas have good friends who work for our affiliate in Louisiana. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families, as well as all the victims of Hurricane Andrew."
Gifford also plans today to tape a public service message with Cleveland's WJW TV-8 General Manager Virgil Dominic asking viewers to contribute to the Red Cross Disaster Fund, earmarking funds for Hurricane Andrew victims. East Ohio Gas is a partner with WJW in it's "Time to Care" public service campaign.
In addition, East Ohio Gas has donated nearly 450 flashlights, batteries, gloves and other items for use by hurricane victims and rescue workers. These items were delivered to the Cleveland Salvation Army for distribution in the stricken areas.
Cleveland-based East Ohio Gas is the largest subsidiary of Consolidated Natural Gas Company, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa. The 2,500 employees of East Ohio Gas serve more than one million residential, commercial and industrial customers in 270 northeast Ohio communities.
