ENVIRX INDUSTRIES PLANS ENTRY INTO SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
HOUSTON, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- ENVIRx Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENVX) today announced that its Chairman, Tom J. Fatjo Jr., reached an agreement with Republic Waste Industries, Inc. that terminated his non-compete agreement. Fatjo, the founder of Republic Waste, served as chairman of Republic until his resignation last August.
The termination of the non-compete agreement frees ENVIRx to enter the $36 billion solid waste management business. ENVIRx is currently engaged and design of water pollution control equipment.
To pursue solid waste opportunities, ENVIRx plans to form ENVIRx Waste Systems and to appoint Robert Cordrick as president of the new division, which will operate collection, processing and disposal operations of non-hazardous solid waste. Cordrick has 14 years of operations, marketing and management experience in solid waste, including an 11-year tenure with Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc., the world's second largest waste management company.
"The termination of the non-compete agreement provides great growth opportunities for ENVIRx Industries," said Fatjo. "Although we will continue to emphasize expansion of our wastewater sludge operations, our entry into solid waste will expand the size of our markets from approximately $12 billion to more than $48 billion." Fatjo said ENVIRx will begin immediately to identify acquisition candidates in non- hazardous solid waste segments.
ENVIRx Industries, headquartered in Houston, completed its initial public offering in November 1991.
