ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS SELECTS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

 BALTIMORE, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Environmental Elements Corporation (NYSE: EEC) today announced the election of Edward H. Verdery as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Verdery will be responsible for all matters related to the operations of the company.
 F. Bradford Smith, president and chief executive officer, commented, "Ted Verdery is an outstanding addition to our team. He comes to us highly trained in operations and team building and has strong experience in the utility industry. I look forward to the substantial contributions I believe Ted will make to our company and its customers."
 Verdery, 47, has spent the past 13 years at Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) and predecessor companies, and most recently held the position of president of ABB Power Plant Controls. Prior to joining ABB, he served as a section chief with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and in the U.S. Navy nuclear submarine service. Verdery is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.
