ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS ANNOUNCES FIRST TWO DRY SCRUBBER CONTRACTS

 BALTIMORE, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Environmental Elements Corporation (NYSE: EEC) today announced that it has received contracts totalling over $10 million for two circulating dry scrubber systems.
 Environmental Elements licenses this technology from Lurgi, AG in Germany.
 The first contract was awarded by L.G. & E. Power Systems of Irvine, Calif., for installation on its 44-megawatt, coal-fired, Roanoke Valley II cogeneration plant in Weldon, N.C. This project will include supply of a dry scrubber for acid gas removal with a fabric filter particulate removal system. The project will begin immediately with delivery scheduled for mid-1994 and start-up in the summer of 1995.
 The second award was received from Black Hills Power & Light, a utility based in Rapid City, S.D., for an 80-megawatt, coal-fired boiler at the Neil Simpson Station in Gillette, Wyo. This expansion project will include supply of a circulating dry scrubber with an electrostatic precipitator for particulate emissions control. This project is scheduled to begin immediately and be completed by summer 1995 with start-up at the end of 1995.
