ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS ANNOUNCES $12 MILLION IN NEW ORDERS; FIRST FLUE GAS CONDITIONING PROJECT; TWO PULP AND PAPER PRECIPITATORS
BALTIMORE, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Environmental Elements Corporation (NASDAQ: NLCO) (EEC), a leading supplier of air pollution control systems, announced today that it has received a contract for more than $5 million for precipitator remediation and flue gas conditioning systems -- its first contract award for these systems, which EEC recently began marketing in North America under a licensing agreement with Lurgi, GmbH. EEC also announced a contract and a letter of intent for two pulp and paper precipitators totalling more than $7 million.
The flue gas conditioning system contract was awarded by Electric Energy, Inc. (EEI) in Joppa, Ill., for six utility boilers totalling 1,080 MW. The contract is scheduled for execution during the next 12 months.
"This is one of the first flue gas conditioning (FGC) system projects we have bid," noted F. Bradford Smith, president and chief executive officer. "We are especially pleased with this award, which has occurred so early in our introduction of this technology. It demonstrates our ability to provide added value to utilities by combining flue gas conditioning with our significant experience in precipitator rebuild and remediation. This award also provides evidence that Lurgi's strong worldwide FGC experience is important to the U.S. utility industry and indicates that our system is an acceptable option for utility acid rain compliance.
"We are also pleased with the continuing demand from the pulp and paper industry, which has always been a strong market for us. The orders we have received include a contract for approximately $4.6 million for replacement of a competitor's double chamber precipitator on an existing power boiler at a plant in the Southeast and a letter of intent for about $2.3 million for a new precipitator on a new recovery boiler at an existing facility in Canada. We have received an engineering release on this project and expect to book the full contract prior to the end of our third quarter."
