ENVIRONMENTAL DIAGNOSTICS, INC. ENTERS INTO DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT
 WITH RHONE-POULENC DIAGNOSTICS, LTD.
BURLINGTON, N.C., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Environmental Diagnostics, Inc. ("EDI") (OTC Bulletin Board: EDIT) reported today that it has entered into a sales, marketing and distribution agreement with the Rhone-Poulenc Diagnostics, Ltd. ("RPDL") division of Rhone-Poulenc. The distribution relationship involves the complete line of EZ-SCREEN agridiagnostic and food safety testing products as well as various other EDI conventional biodiagnostic products for the agriculture and food industries. The term of the agreement is for five years and covers both Eastern and Western Europe.
RPDL, which is headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland, is the Rhone-Poulenc division dedicated to providing diagnostic products to the agriculture and food industry. RPDL has a major presence throughout Europe and much of the rest of the world. The relationship between EDI and RPDL may be expanded to include additional territories beyond Europe. Furthermore, the distribution agreement also provides for research and product development collaboration between the companies.
EDI had been distributing its products in Western Europe and certain African countries through its former partner, TRANSIA, which underwent a change in control after filing for bankruptcy in 1991.
James D. Skinner, President and CEO, stated, "The relationship with Rhone-Poulenc Diagnostics Ltd. represents the ideal partnering opportunity for EDI. Rhone-Poulenc is a worldwide leader in agrichemicals and the RPDL group is, similarly, a recognized leader dedicated to the agridiagnostic business. Having a partner of the strength and stature of RPDL should contribute significantly to the growth of EDI business in Europe. Simultaneously EDI will enjoy the opportunity for future growth through RPDL in other new territories as well as through the collaborative efforts of the two companies to increase their product offering."
