ENRON LIQUIDS PIPELINE, L.P. REPORTS FIRST QUARTER NET INCOME OF $1.9 MILLION

HOUSTON, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Enron Liquids Pipeline, L. P. today reported net income of $1.9 million for the first quarter of 1993, vs. $3.9 million on a pro forma basis for the comparable period in 1992. Net income per common unit for the three months ended March 31, 1993, amounted to $0.34 compared to pro forma net income per common unit of $0.69 in t a year ago.
Cash flow available to unitholders for the first quarter was $0.55 per unit and has been declared payable May 14, 1993 to unit holders of record on April 30, 1993.
"We remain on course toward our objective of increasing unitholder distributions above the minimum quarterly distribution amount later this year," said James E. Spencer, president and chief executive officer of Enron Liquids Pipeline Company, the general partner of Enron Liquids Pipeline, L.P.
Earnings for the first quarter of 1993 were lower compared to a year ago primarily due to two factors: 1) reduced income on the North System related to lower tariff rates during the first two months of the period, as expected, due to a renegotiated contract with a major customer that became effective March 1, 1992, combined with lower transportation volumes to refineries; and 2) reduced equity earnings from the Mont Belvieu fractionator due to downtime related to expansion and maintenance.
Enron Liquids Pipeline, L.P. operates two interstate common carrier natural gas liquids (NGL) pipeline systems and one carbon dioxide (CO2) pipeline system. The Partnership also owns an indirect interest in an NGL fractionator. The North System transports, stores and delivers a full range of NGLs and refined products from south central Kansas to markets in the Midwest and has interconnects, using third-party pipelines, to the eastern United States. The Cypress Pipeline transports ethane from Mont Belvieu, Texas, to the Lake Charles, Louisiana, area. The Central Basin Pipeline transports CO2 in West Texas. Enron Liquids Pipeline, L.P. trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol, "ENP."
