ENHANCED DECISION SUPPORT: IBM IMPROVES DATA ACCESS IN THE INFORMATION WAREHOUSE FRAMEWORK

 ENHANCED DECISION SUPPORT:
IBM IMPROVES DATA ACCESS IN THE INFORMATION WAREHOUSE FRAMEWORK
SAN FRANCISCO, March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that its decision support product offerings will be enhanced to enable users to access a wider range of data on IBM and non-IBM systems under the Information Warehouse (see note A) framework.
The decision support products -- applications that enable users to retrieve, analyze, manipulate and present data for improved decision making -- can be used with the Enterprise Data Access/Structured Query Language (B) (EDA/SQL) (B) products from Information Builders, Inc. (IBI) and will be supported by IBM.
This will expand the data read by users of IBM decision support applications to include non-relational and additional relational data, on systems from both IBM and other vendors.
The IBM products are being enhanced as part of IBM's evolution of the Information Warehouse framework, a set of products and facilities for accessing and managing diverse data in a common, easy-to-use manner. EDA/SQL is family of client/server products that provide a common means of accessing different data sources. IBI is a member of the IBM International Alliance for the Information Warehouse framework.
The latest releases of the following decision support products will be supported for use with the EDA/Dynamic Extender Release 2 for DATABASE 2 (A), part of the EDA/SQL product set, when the product is made available by IBI in June, 1992 (except where noted):
