Built: 1762.

Pulled by: Eight horses.

Decorations: Festooned with carvings of dolphins, mermaids and cherubs. Paintings by Florentine artist Giovanni Cipriani decorate its sides and four gold tritons - half-man, half-fish - represent Britain's seafaring heritage.

Last used by the Queen before Golden Jubilee: At the Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1977.

Height: 12ft.

Weight: Four tonnes.

SCOTTISH STATE COACH

Built: 1833.

Pulled by: Four horses.

Decorations: It bears the Royal Arms of Scotland and insignia of the Order Of The Thistle and has a model of the crown of Scotland on its roof.

Last used by the Queen before Golden Jubilee: At the opening of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1969.

Height: 12ft.

Weight: Two tonnes.
