ENGEL APPOINTED PRESIDENT, SCT PUBLIC SECTOR BUSINESS UNIT

MALVERN, Pa., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Systems & Computer Technology Corporation (SCT) (NASDAQ: SCTC) has announced the appointment of Paul Engel as president, SCT Public Sector, effective immediately.
SCT Public Sector, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., is a market leader in providing financial management, administrative, and criminal justice systems to government jurisdictions, courts, state agencies, and not-for-profit organizations nationwide.
"This is an exciting group with solid products and services and promising opportunities for growth in its target markets," said Engel, who has served as the group's acting President for the past two months. "I look forward to helping the business unit consistently achieve its potential, expand strategically where appropriate, and respond effectively to the needs of its customers."
Engel, who joined SCT's Software & Technology Services (STS) division in 1989, most recently held the position of general manager, Higher Education Industry Marketing, for which he devised targeted programs to support market-share growth objectives, including new-product marketing, market research, competitive analyses, and direct marketing. In addition, he previously directed that division's local-government industry marketing activities and held the position of Product Manager for the BANNER Courts system as well.
He had the added responsibility of managing the STS Technical Currency Program (TCP), which provides ongoing enhancements and updates, hotline support, and regular communications to users of SCT's BANNER and SYMMETRY Series of software. He also orchestrated the annual TCP conference, a four-day meeting of STS clients which last year attracted nearly 1,000 participants.
Before joining SCT, Engel spent six years with Unisys Corporation, Blue Bell, Pa., providing direction for the marketing and sales of a variety of local government, public sector, business systems, and financial applications. Prior to that time, he served as a senior financial analyst with Hydril Company, Houston, and with the State of New Mexico, Santa Fe. He holds an M.B.A. in finance from the University of New Mexico, and a B.A. in business administration from Michigan State University.
Announcing Engel's appointment, SCT Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael J. Emmi noted, "In his four years with SCT, Paul has demonstrated that he is a creative strategist and innovative manager, with well-honed marketing and administrative skills. His record of success for us is impressive, and we are pleased to offer him a key role at the helm of a rapidly growing business unit."
SCT is a leading provider of facilities management services and administrative application software in the U.S. higher education and local government markets, and has recently introduced a new product for the utility market.
