ENERGY SECRETARY TO TOUR DOE FACILITIES IN COLORADO AND NEW MEXICO
 Secretary of Energy James D. Watkins will tour major Department of Energy (DOE) facilities in Colorado and New Mexico this week and participate in the eighth National Technology Initiative (NTI) conference at the Colorado School of Mines.
 The following events are open to press coverage:
 Wednesday, June 10
 11:30 a.m., signing of a major cooperative research and development agreement between DOE's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Coors Ceramics Co. at the Coors Ceramics factory in Golden, Colo.
 1 p.m., ground breaking for the Solar Energy Research Facility at NREL. Watkins will make keynote remarks focused on DOE conservation and renewable energy programs and cooperative technology development with U.S. businesses. Following the ground breaking, he will tour NREL. Tour open to press. Photo ops.
 Thursday, June 11
 8:45 a.m., NTI conference at the Green Center at Colorado School of Mines. Watkins will make opening remarks at this day-long conference of government, business and academic technology development leaders.
 3 p.m., at Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in Carlsbad, N.M., to address employees, tour plant and hold a 5:15 p.m. press conference. The governors of Colorado, Idaho, Nevada and New Mexico will participate in this event.
 Friday, June 12
 9:15 a.m., at DOE's Rocky Flats office to address employees, dedicate a community relations office and hold a 1:45 p.m. press conference with local government officials.
