 BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Energen Corporation


(NYSE: EGN) today announced that Richard J. Patzke, executive vice president, a member of the board of directors, and president of Taurus Exploration Inc., the company's oil and gas exploration and production company, has resigned effective today (Jan. 20) to pursue other career opportunities.
 "Rich was a significant contributor to the growth and development of Energen's diversified operations," said Rex J. Lysinger, Energen's chairman and chief executive officer. "We appreciate his services and wish him well."
 Energen President Wm. Michael Warren Jr. will assume responsibility for Energen's oil and gas activities. Warren also is a member of the board of directors and president of Alagasco, Energen's natural gas utility.
 Energen is a diversified energy holding company; its primary lines of business are natural gas distribution and oil and gas exploration and production. Alagasco, Energen's natural gas utility, is the largest distributor of natural gas in Alabama. Taurus is the leading producer and operator of coalbed methane in Alabama's Black Warrior Basin.
