ENCAD APPOINTS TWO NEW OUTSIDE DIRECTORS TO BOARD

 SAN DIEGO, Dec. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- ENCAD Inc.,(NASDAQ-NMS: ENCD), which completed its initial public offering of common stock on Dec. 16, 1993, announced that it has appointed Ronald J. Hall and Howard L. Jenkins to its board of directors effective Dec. 27, 1993.
 Upon the appointment of Hall and Jenkins, Carol A. Giesecke, vice president, chief financial officer and corporate secretary of ENCAD, resigned as a director of the company. Remaining as director-officers are David A. Purcell, chairman of the board and president, and Richard A. Murray, chief technical officer. The company currently is conducting interviews with candidates for a third outside director with the intent of increasing its board of directors to five members.
 Hall and Jenkins have been named to both the audit and compensation committees of the board, with Hall chairing the compensation committee and Jenkins chairing the audit committee.
 Hall, 53, is managing general partner of Hall, Morris & Drufva Capital Management of Laguna Hills, Calif., a principal shareholder of the company. Prior to his current position, Hall was with First Interstate Venture Capital Corp. Previously, Hall was a general partner of Weiss, Peck & Greer, a New York-based venture capital and money management firm, and with the venture capital operation of Bank of America. He received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and his MBA in Finance at UCLA.
 Jenkins, 57, currently is president of Jenkins Machinery Co., a Concord, Calif.-based tractor and machinery dealership serving California and Nevada. He also is managing partner of the Jenkins Ranch, and was a former board member of Alex Brown Financial Services. Jenkins received his B.A. in Business Administration at Eastern Washington University.
 Purcell, commenting on the appointments, stated, "ENCAD is privileged to name these two fine individuals to its board of directors.  ENCAD designs, develops, manufactures and markets large-format, color inkjet printer/plotters to increase productivity of computer applications requiring quality printed output. Typical users of these printer/plotters are in the industries utilizing computer-aided design; architectural, engineering and construction design; geographic information systems such as surveying and mapping; and graphic arts such as digital photo imaging and editing, sign-making, three-dimensional renderings and presentation graphics.
