EMPRISE TECHNOLOGIES ACQUIRES PRODUCTS, TECHNOLOGY, ESTABLISHES INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION NETWORK

BRIDGEVILLE, Pa., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Emprise Technologies announced that it is marketing four intersystems management software products and has formed several strategic business alliances and a global product distribution network.
Emprise provides standards-based products and services that link mainframes to networks of personal computers. The company's intersystems management products increase productivity and reduce costs for information systems departments by leveraging the strengths of both mainframes and PCs.
"With today's emphasis on `rightsizing,' more corporate computing resources are connected to departmental systems than ever before," explained Gregory M. Coticchia, vice president of operations at Emprise Technologies. "Information systems managers around the world need software products that work across computing platforms and operating systems."
Emprise Technologies has already formed business alliances with IBM, Novell, SUN Microsystems and Unisys. The company has also entered into strategic business development relationships with CONTEAM in Germany, HeteroGenius Systems in the United Kingdom, and American International Group, one of the largest insurance companies in the United States.
With headquarters in the South Pittsburgh Technology Park, Bridgeville, Emprise Technologies also has a well established global distribution network. In addition to its U.S. office, which directs sales and distribution in North and South America, Emprise Technologies has established international operations serving the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Scandinavia, Europe, the Pacific Rim and the Middle East.
Responding to market demands, Emprise Technologies is working to both develop and acquire a suite of products that will help information systems personnel integrate and efficiently manage their existing systems. Emprise Technologies' initial intersystems management tool set includes:
-- Intersend(TM), a standards-based, end-user file transfer utility that simplifies and speeds the transport of information between CICS mainframes and many computing systems that support APPC/LU6.2 communications.
-- CATS(TM), the CICS Automated Table System, that provides a centralized and automated process for CICS resource management. It is designed to improve efficiency and productivity while reducing resource request time and eliminating assembly errors.
-- Personal TSO(TM), a product that transfers many resource-intensive TSO development functions from the mainframe to a PC workstation. It offers key advantages of a distributed environment -- faster response times, improved programmer productivity, and reductions in TSO overhead, maintenance and support.
-- REXXSession(TM), an advanced productivity tool that enables a workstation user to easily create procedures for automating 3270 tasks. These include data transfer, cooperative processing and unattended operations between OS/2, DOS or Windows and MVS, using the IBM standard procedure language, REXX.
Emprise Technologies was founded in November 1991 by computer industry veterans Glen F. Chatfield, Denis Burt, Coticchia, Alan Himler, Patrick V. Pagano and Neal M. Pollon. Chatfield was a founder of Duquesne Systems in Pittsburgh, and the first CEO of its successor, LEGENT Corporation -- the world's second largest independent systems software vendor. The other Emprise founders and partners each played a key role in shaping development and marketing at Duquesne Systems, and later, LEGENT.
