EMPRESAS ICA ANNOUNCES SIGNATURE OF CONTRACT WITH MEXICO CITY WATER COMMISSION

 MEXICO CITY, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Empresas ICA Sociedad Controladora, S.A. de C.V. (NYSE: ICA), Mexico's largest construction company, today announced that one of its subsidiaries has signed a 10-year agreement with the Mexico City Water Commission (Comision de Aguas del Distrito Federal), for the management of the potable water supply, drainage and water treatment systems for the benefit of approximately 2.8 million residents of the Cuauhtemoc, Azcapotzalco and Gustavo A. Madero areas of Mexico City. Other shareholders of the ICA subsidiary include Banco Nacional de Mexico and Cie Generale des Eaux of France.
 This contract, scheduled to commence Nov. 1, 1993, is expected to generate revenues of NPs. 1 billion over the 10-year term of the agreement and represents an important milestone, as it is among the first contracts awarded to the private sector for the management of public water services in Mexico City. ICA estimates that the project will result in the creation of 1,250 new jobs during the construction phase and will create additional jobs during the life of the contract.
 The subsidiary will be responsible for the following three stages of the contract: (1) updating the customer lists and mapping systems and refurbishing meters; (2) managing and updating meter records, invoicing and collection; and (3) operating and managing the network and arranging financing for the construction and expansion of the water system.
 Empresas ICA Sociedad Controladora, S.A. de C.V., is the largest construction company in Mexico. It is engaged in a full range of construction and related activities. ICA constructs infrastructural facilities, as well as industrial, urban and housing construction for both the Mexican public and private sectors. ICA is also involved in the construction, maintenance and operation of highways, bridges and tunnels under concessions and in the management and operation of water supply systems granted by the Mexican government. In addition, ICA manufactures and markets industrial goods and owns and operates hotels. The company is involved in the quarrying and marketing of construction aggregates, particularly limestone.
