EMERY WORLDWIDE LAUNCHES DEDICATED OVERNIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT
CARGO SERVICE BETWEEN HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA UNITED STATES
PALO ALTO, Calif., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Emery Worldwide has begun daily dedicated overnight service between Halifax, Nova Scotia and the United States, providing the only next-day air cargo service for companies based in the Canadian Maritime provinces.
According to Hugh Cutler, Emery's division manager for Canada, the new service enables Emery to provide businesses in the area with earlier delivery times and later pickup commitments as well as increase its daily cargo capacity.
The 15,000-pound capacity Convair gives Emery a dedicated aircraft with greater flexibility and control over service requirements for its customers, Cutler also said, especially for those companies operating on "Just-in-Time" production schedules with acute time-sensitive delivery demands for assembly parts.
Robert Treidler, Emery's terminal manager in Halifax, said the aircraft arrives late morning Tuesday to Saturday and departs at 5 p.m. Cargo is routed from the U.S. through Montreal for arrival in Halifax the next day. For destinations in the United States and around the world, cargo is routed through Emery's sortation hub in Dayton, Ohio, via the Halifax-Montreal link. Shipments leaving Halifax for the U.S. will arrive the next morning.
Industries served in the area by Emery include aerospace manufacturing and repairs, machine fabricators for energy and petrochemicals, and regional airline companies.
Emery Worldwide is a $1.3 billion air freight company with 245 terminal and service locations in North America and 88 countries. Emery provides professional transportation services to support the expedited traffic and
logistics needs of retailing, manufacturing and industrial customers. The Emery network accepts any size commercial air cargo shipment.
