ELSTONE IS RIGHT - FA SHOULD HANG HEADS IN SHAME; ECHO SPORT COMMENT.
SHAME on the FA - yet again. It takes courage for a chief executive to front up football's establishment and deliver a few home truths.
But Goodison supremo Robert Elstone is dead right in not pulling his punches today over the Blues' disgraceful ticket allocation for next month's FA Cup final.
People say it's the same every year. And it is. But that should not stop us pouring scorn on the FA for devastating loyal fans who will miss out on their beloved club's big day because of sheer bloody mindedness.
The real disgrace is that this age old problem could be solved so easily.
The vast majority of people who make up the FA's so-called family would, surely, give up their gifts of tickets willingly every year to see them go to proper fans of the clubs competing at Wembley. Fans like the loyal Goodison Park season ticket holders who have today had their hearts broken by Soho Square.
If these members of the football family want tickets, let them put their names forward for a limited ballot which rewards enough of them to satisfy the FA's turgid, archaic conscience.
But for God's sake give the rest to true fans, rather than create this annual tout's paradise.
Elstone is right. The FA are driving true fans away from the game.
If more than 25,000 Blues are there on May 30, it will be because they've paid way over the odds to scheming parasites.
Shame on the FA..
