ELSEWARE CORP. LICENSES PANOSE TYPEFACE MATCHING SYSTEM TO CRANDELL GROUP AND NO HANDS SOFTWARE

SEATTLE, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- ElseWare Corp. today announced two new OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) agreements to license its PANOSE Typeface Matching System(TM). PANOSE provides platform- independent font matching and replacement across operating systems and applications.
The new OEM agreements are with Crandell Group Inc. and No Hands Software Inc., bringing to nine the number of companies that have licensed the PANOSE technology.
The PANOSE system provides an objective mechanism for characterizing and intelligently replacing fonts. By working with application vendors to license PANOSE, ElseWare is moving forward in its strategy to establish PANOSE as the standard in portable font technologies.
Integration of PANOSE in a wide range of third party applications will make it easier for computer users to exchange documents across platforms and between PCs with different font configurations without losing font formatting.
No Hands Software will embed PANOSE in Common Ground(TM), its electronic document distribution software.
"Without compromising the pixel to pixel fidelity that Common Ground is known for, incorporating PANOSE adds new benefits to the solution," said Tony Staynor, vice president of marketing at No Hands Software. "PANOSE provides superior font mapping when copying text to the clipboard or when saving Common Ground documents to another format; and will give our users the ability to zoom on screen to any resolution."
The Crandell Group will incorporate PANOSE into its upcoming document portability technologies targeted for implementation into mutli- platform fax and electronic mail software.
"The time will come when users want to convert between portable document viewing formats. With PANOSE as the standard, fonts are one less thing to worry about," said Michael Crandell, president of The Crandell Group.
"PANOSE opens the way for documents to travel across disparate platforms and networks without losing the original look and feel," said Gregg Brown, vice president of marketing and OEM sales at ElseWare. "Today a single document can move from a Macintosh over a network to a PC, finally becoming electronic fax output. With PANOSE, the document retains its initial font appearance and formating and can be viewed at every step."
In addition to the two new OEM agreements for PANOSE, ElseWare has OEM relationships with Agfa Miles Corp., Aldus Corp., Bitstream Inc., GO Corp. (a division of EO Corp.), Hewlett Packard Co., Lotus Development Corp., and Microsoft Corp.
ElseWare also incorporates its PANOSE typeface matching technology into their first retail product, Font Works(TM), the first integrated font solution for Windows. Font Works uses ElseWare's Infinifont(TM) technology to supply more than 200 scalable fonts using less than two megabytes of disk space.
Vendors interested in receiving more information on licensing PANOSE can contact Gregg Brown by phone at 206-448-9600 or via Internet (gregg@elseware.com).
Founded in 1990 in Seattle, ElseWare Corp. is a leading supplier of portable font technology, a fundamental element of workgroup computing.
