ELLER NAMED CHAIRMAN OF INVEST FINANCIAL CORPORATION

 LONG GROVE, Ill., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Kemper Corp. (NYSE: KEM) announced today that it has named Donald F. Eller chairman and chief executive officer of INVEST Financial Corp., effective immediately. He replaces James R. Boris, who had been holding this office on an interim basis.
 Eller will report to Boris, executive vice president, Kemper Corp. Merlin Gackle, president and chief operating officer of INVEST, will now report to Eller.
 "Over the past 30 years Don has established himself as one of the most accomplished executives in the securities industry," said Boris. "His tenure with Kemper and his familiarity with Kemper's products and distribution system will be beneficial in his new role as head of INVEST. Under Don's leadership I'm confident that INVEST will continue to be the recognized leader in this industry."
 Eller was appointed senior executive vice president and director of client services for Kemper Securities, Inc. in October 1992. Although Eller will retain his officer title at Kemper Securities, he will relinquish his responsibility for the retail branch system in order to devote his leadership capabilities to INVEST.
 Previously, Eller was director of equity research at Kemper Securities and before that served as manager of institutional sales and trading for a Kemper Securities predecessor firm Prescott, Ball & Turben. During his career, Eller has been an analyst with Merrill Lynch, a portfolio manager with Investors Diversified Services and a research manager for Abraham/Lehman Brothers. He also held positions in money management and administration at Roulston & Co.
 A chartered financial analyst, Eller holds a bachelor's degree in commerce and finance from Wilkes University in Pennsylvania and a master's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.
