ELLEN SPELLS OUT GAFFES OVER STAR SAOIRSE'S NAME.
CHATSHOW host Ellen DeGeneres is on a mission to teach people how to pronounce Saoirse Ronan's name.
The star had the Carlow girl on her show ahead of The Golden Globes, and attempted to clear up any confusion after a number of highprofile failed attempts. Ellen posted a photo on Instagram of the 21-year-old holding a sign explaining how to pronounce her name. The caption pokes fun at Hollywood star Ryan Gosling's explanation of how it is said as Ellen wrote: "Saoirse Ronan is here tomorrow! And she rhymes with inertia."
Saoirse is nominated for Best Actress at this Saturday's Golden Globes Awards for her role in Brooklyn.
At the Globes nomination ceremony, actor Dennis Quaid called her "Sheesha", and Gosling added to the mishap by telling the Hollywood Film Awards her name was pronounced "Ser-sha, like inertia".
