ELLEN KOKOS JOINS DIGITAL'S PRODUCT MARKETING ORGANIZATION AS VICE PRESIDENT, PRODUCT MARKETING DEVELOPMENT

 MAYNARD, Mass., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Equipment Corporation (NYSE: DEC) announced today that Ellen R. Kokos has joined the company as vice president, product marketing development, reporting to Harold F. Enright, vice president, Product Marketing, effective immediately.
 In this position, Kokos will be responsible for identifying and exploring advanced application opportunities for Digital's Alpha AXP technology in growing and emerging markets. She is also charged with identifying key strategic business partners to develop and foster new business opportunities for Alpha AXP technology.
 "Ellen's extensive marketing background and comprehensive understanding of the desktop, channels, and multimedia markets will be invaluable in developing and implementing a multi-tiered market strategy focusing on present and future Alpha AXP technologies for Digital," stated Enright. "Ellen's capabilities also will help Product Marketing deliver effective marketing programs that generate demand for Digital's systems and technologies."

 Kokos comes to Digital from Novell Inc., where she was director of channels marketing/business development for Novell's multimedia products division. Prior to her tenure at Novell, Kokos was vice president, marketing and sales for Fluent, Inc., a company that develops and markets software that integrates full motion video into networked business applications. She spent five years at Sun Microsystems, Inc., where she held a succession of senior management positions, including director, publishing technologies business unit. Kokos also served five years with Prime Computer, where she held a number of directorships, including director, engineering/scientific product marketing. Kokos is a graduate of Smith College, where she earned her bachelor of arts degree in Russian Civilization.
