ELLE OF A BASH; Celebs turn out in their glad rags to shine at Britain's top style awards.
THE stars pulled on their finest last night for the showbiz event no-one wanted to miss.
Denise Van Outen, Dannii Minogue and Oscar nominee Naomi Watts were among the celebs who donned their glad rags for the Elle Style Awards.
Van Outen looked stunning in a black satin evening gown with plunging neckline at the event at London's Natural History Museum.
Other winners in the style stakes were Myleene Klass, in a strapless satin creation by Kyri, andThe Office star Lucy Davis, in a cream halter neck dress by Ben de Lisi.
Davis said she had turned to designer dressing after wearing a High Street outfit at the recent Golden Globes.
She said: 'I've learnt my lesson because everyone at the Golden Globes kept asking, 'What are you wearing?' 'When I told them it was from Pilot, they just looked blank.
'So I've got this beautiful dress by Ben de Lisi and I've bought these shoes from Stella McCartney,which I just love.' Sadie Frost, Cat Deeley, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Louise Redknapp were also at the ceremony, as were tennis star Venus Williams and I'm A Celebrity star Lord Brocket.
Nicole Kidman was named woman of the year and her best friend Naomi Watts won best actress.
Cat Deeley was best female TV star and best maleTV star was Nigel Harman, aka Dennis from EastEnders.
Paul Bettany was best actor, Dolce and Gabbana won best international designer and best British designer went to Frost French, the company run by Sadie Frost and her friend Jemima French.
The Darkness won best band and turned up in their usual outfits of leathers and skin tight snakeskin trousers.
Frontman Justin Hawkins said as he arrived: 'We're hoping to scoop three or four awards tonight, we should definitely win nicest clothes and most fashionable people.'
Asked to name his style icon, he chose EastEnders' favourite Pat Butcher.
