ELISABETH SELDES NAMED MGM VICE PRESIDENT OF PRODUCTION
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Elisabeth Seldes has been appointed vice president of production for MGM Pictures, becoming one of the first production executives hired by MGM Pictures President Mike Marcus. In her new position, Seldes will be responsible for the acquisition, development, and supervision of film projects for MGM, reporting directly to Marcus. Since July 1991, Seldes has served as vice president of production for American Zoetrope. During her tenure there, she worked directly with Francis Ford Coppola on the development of such films as the recent fantasy, "The Secret Garden." Other projects which she helped to develop for Zoetrope include: an as-yet untitled feature to be directed Oliver Stone; the television special "Top of the Ninth," to be directed by Coppola and presented live on CBS in 1994; and the movie "Trailer Park Cassanova," starring Harvey Keitel and directed by Anne Goursaud. She was also responsible for acquiring the works of several highly regarded talents, including the famous children's author/illustrator William Joyce, whose book, "Santa Calls," Seldes brought to Zoetrope. Seldes began her film career in 1987 as the executive assistant to Oliver Stone, where she worked on the production of such acclaimed Stone films as "Platoon," "Wall Street," "Talk Radio," and "Born on the Fourth of July."
