ELECTRONIC BROKERING SERVICE GOES LIVE TODAY

TULSA, Okla., June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Live trades began this morning on CHALKBOARD(SM), a new real-time electronic brokering network.
CHALKBOARD connects traders of crude oil, petroleum products and natural gas liquids via personal computers on a nationwide, cash-market network.
The service went live today with 46 trading stations, allowing petroleum traders of all sizes, including some of the nation's largest oil companies and trading firms, to complete electronic trades on the cash market for the first time.
CHALKBOARD is a subscription service provided by Williams Brokering Services Inc.
"This is a watershed event for the cash market in petroleum liquids. With CHALKBOARD's broad market coverage and immediate price discovery, the market moves out of the dark ages and into the information age," says Phil Wright, president of Williams Brokering Services.
CHALKBOARD facilitates the matching of buy and sell positions that traders anonymously enter onto the network. Trading parties always own the petroleum liquids posted; the CHALKBOARD service securely and confidentially brokers the sale via the electronic network.
Buy and sell positions posted on CHALKBOARD are simultaneously viewed by all traders on the network. The service's customization features allow traders to tailor their slate of trading partners and credit requirements to meet individual companies' trading specifications. Security features cloak traders' identities, ensuring confidentiality. CHALKBOARD reveals a trader's identity only to the party who accepts his or her position.
The CHALKBOARD name originates from brokerage firms' tradition of posting positions on an in-house chalkboard. Williams Brokering Services unveiled the subscription service in March at the National Petroleum Refiners Association convention in San Antonio.
Williams Brokering Services is part of Williams Energy Ventures, an operating unit of The Williams Cos. Inc. (NYSE: WMB), Tulsa.
The Williams Cos., listed on the New York and Pacific stock exchanges under the symbol WMB, operates 27,000 miles of pipelines that transport natural gas and petroleum liquids, major natural gas gathering and processing facilities, and a national telecommunications company that specializes in serving other carriers and businesses.
