ELECTRONIC ARTS AND THE SOFTWARE TOOLWORKS
 NOT TO RENEW DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT
NOVATO, Calif., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) and The Software Toolworks (NASDAQ: TWRX) have announced that their existing distribution agreement which expires on June 30, 1992, will not be renewed. Both companies stressed that ending the agreement was amicable and the relationship has been mutually beneficial.
"Although Electronic Arts has done an excellent job distributing our software, we have built our own distribution infrastructure to support our over $90 million video game and Miracle Piano Teaching System business," said Bob Lloyd, president of The Software Toolworks. "It makes sense to fold the disk segment of our business into this existing infrastructure."
"We have maintained an outstanding relationship with The Software Toolworks over the past seven years," commented Larry Probst, president of Electronic Arts. "We have been mutually planning this transition for some time."
Electronic Arts currently distributes certain disk-based entertainment and education software products for The Software Toolworks including well known titles such as the Chessmaster(R) series and Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing!(R). Effective July 1, 1992, such disk-based products will continue to be distributed through the channels which are currently carrying other The Software Toolworks video games and CD-ROM products.
