ELECTRONIC ARTS' EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS ORR AND TRAEGER NAMED VICE PRESIDENT

SAN MATEO, Calif., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS), a global leader in interactive media, has elected Scott Orr and Don Traeger vice president. Both serve Electronic Arts as executive producers of entertainment software (the company was the first in its industry to adopt the Hollywood producer system of media development).
Orr teamed up with Electronic Arts in 1990 from Gamestar, the company he founded in 1982 and sold to Activision in 1986. He first worked as a designer on Electronic Arts' wildly popular "John Madden Football(TM)" and "NHL(R) Hockey" games, then joined Electronic Arts as a producer in 1991.
In 1993, Orr's production team at Electronic Arts contributed significantly to company revenues. He is most widely recognized for the production of sports games, including "NHLPA(R) Hockey" and "Madden 93." Orr received both degrees -- B.A. and M.B.A. -- from the University of California at Riverside. A strong leader, manager and team builder, he is a native of Santa Barbara, Calif.
In 1985, Traeger, a visionary in mass-market interactive entertainment, left Atari and joined Electronic Arts -- first in product marketing and then in production (he has served the company as producer and executive producer). With 1993 runaway hits like "PGA TOUR(R) Golf" and "Lakers vs. Celtics and the NBA(R) Playoffs(TM)," Traeger and his studio team have also contributed heavily to EA's coffers. Traeger holds both degrees -- B.S. and M.B.A. -- from the University of Southern California and is a native of Chicago.
Bing Gordon, Electronic Arts' executive vice president overseeing North American production, praised the two producers for their significant creative contributions to the development of Electronic Arts and concluded by voicing confidence that both gentlemen will continue to demonstrate production and management genius as the company enters its second decade of growth through technological innovation, product diversity and market expansion.
NOTE: Electronic Arts is a diversified entertainment and education company that develops, publishes, and distributes software worldwide. The company is 11 years old and has an annual sales rate of $300 million. Its corporate headquarters are in San Mateo, and it has offices in Texas, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Japan.
