 ELECTROMEDICS REPORTS THIRD QUARTER; YTD NET INCOME DOUBLES
 ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Electromedics Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: ELMD) reported sales for its third quarter of $9.7 million and year to date 1992 sales of $29.2 million, an increase of 10.8 percent and 13.3 percent respectively over last year's third quarter and year to date sales.
 Third quarter income increased 89.8 percent to $729,000 or 6 cents per share over its 1991 third quarter of $384,000 or 4 cents per share and Electromedics doubled its nine month year to date net income to $2.5 million or 21 cents per share over its 1991 comparable year to date earnings of $1.25 million or 13 cents per share.
 "We are pleased with the contribution from our foreign operations which almost doubled sales over last year's third quarter. The opening of our German operations this quarter, allows us to compete effectively on a worldwide basis," stated F. James Lynch, chairman and chief executive officer of Electromedics.
 "Sales of the ELMD 500, our newest Autotransfusion Machine, helped to propel our machine revenues to 23 percent growth for the quarter and 22 percent growth for year to date," according to Richard B. Carlock, vice president and chief financial officer. "This gives us reason to be optimistic about future Autotransfusion disposable revenues which correlate closely with machine productivity."
 The company's gross profit margins improved 3 percent to 45.6 percent for the third quarter of 1992 compared to its third quarter last year. The company cited an increase in R&D spending to $544,000.
 Electromedics designs, manufactures and markets medical equipment and associated disposable devices focusing on blood management, blood conservation and monitoring of temperature and blood pressure. Its products are sold to more than 1,000 hospitals and medical centers throughout the United States and in 30 countries. Headquarters and manufacturing facilities are based in Englewood.
