 ELECTRIC UTILITY AWARDS HARRIS $8.7 MILLION CONTRACT
 FOR ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
 MELBOURNE, Fla., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) has received an $8.7 million contract to supply an advanced energy management system to a Pennsylvania-based electric utility.
 Allegheny Power System awarded Harris Controls Division the contract to provide a Harris XA/21 Energy Management System for use at the company's Power Control Center in Greensburg, Pa.
 The open-architecture energy management system will be used to help monitor substations and transmission lines, coordinate planned outages on transmission lines and substation equipment, and monitor the security and stability of the transmission system, along with other functions.
 Allegheny Power System is an electric utility holding company which includes three wholly owned subsidiary electric utility operating companies: Monongahela Power Company, The Potomac Edison Company, and West Penn Power Company. The subsidiaries serve approximately 1.3 million customers in an area of about 29,100 square miles in parts of Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
 Harris Controls Division headquartered in Melbourne, Fla. is part of Harris Electronic Systems Sector. The division has an extensive background in the design and installation of advanced, computer-based control systems for electric utilities, oil and gas pipeline companies, transit authorities and railroads throughout the U.S. and abroad.
