 EL PASO NATURAL GAS ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF NEW SENIOR VICE
 PRESIDENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
 EL PASO, Texas, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- El Paso Natural Gas Company announced today that H. Brent Austin has been named to succeed Francis J. Boyle as senior vice president and chief financial officer at the company. Boyle has resigned his position at El Paso Natural Gas Company effective April 1, 1992, to pursue other business opportunities. Austin is currently vice president, planning and treasurer for Burlington Resources Inc. (NYSE: BR), the parent company of El Paso Natural Gas in Seattle.
 Austin jointed Burlington Northern Inc. in 1986 as director, planning. He was promoted to assistant vice president planning in 1989 and in 1990 was elected vice president, planning and treasurer of Burlington Resourses Inc. Prior to joining Burlington Northern Inc., Austin held senior level positions at W. R. Grace & Company and Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
 Austin and his family will be relocating to El Paso in the near future.
