EKM Corporation Signs On as Preferred Partner with Toshiba.

SAN DIEGO -- EKM Corporation, an award-winning leader in Electronic Laboratory Notebooks, joins the Toshiba Solution Provider Program. The addition of Toshiba's award-winning Tablet PCs further strengthens EKM's goal of bringing the very best in research and discovery tools to its customers.

With the customer in mind, EKM and Toshiba create more effective laboratory automation solutions for their clients, while increasing sales and productivity, therefore allocating more time to research and discovery. As a Toshiba Solution Provider EKM will bundle its LABTrack(TM) suite of solutions, including: Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), Laboratory Information Management (LIMS) and cGMP software onto Toshiba's mobile solutions.

"Many of our clients and prospects in the scientific community are looking for portable solutions that will provide them the same or similar flexibility as their paper lab notebooks," said Stewart Larson, EKM CEO. "Toshiba is the world's leading supplier of Tablet PCs and we envision a win/win/win relationship between our customers, Toshiba and EKM."

Portability is the primary advantage of paper lab notebooks. Incorporating our ELN solution with Toshiba's Tablet PCs has resulted in a solution that allows type written, hand written, voice recorded and other forms of data entry streamlining the old method of capturing patient information.

"In creating the Solutions Provider Program, Toshiba wanted to afford companies such as EKM with the opportunity to bundle their proprietary applications with Toshiba's award-winning notebooks and Tablet PCs to create differentiated mobile computing solutions," said Jeff Barney, vice president marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc.

LABTrack is a powerful replacement and/or companion for a paper lab notebook. It is used as an Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Whether in an Analytical Services, QC or R&D lab; Pharmaceutical, Biotech, or an Environmental Testing company, LABTrack stores and reports all of the lab's data. LABTrack is as easy to use as a word processor, but offers the reporting and searching capabilities of a relational database. It is the only ELN that mirrors existing laboratory notebook practices through the use of character recognition and word processing. With electronic signature (21 CFR Part 11) functionality built-in, it is used as a legally acceptable document in a court of law, before the PTO and for complying with FDA regulations. When combined with a wireless-enabled Tablet PC, such as the Toshiba Portege(R) M400, allows the customer to gain complete mobility.
