EIGHTY EIGHT ROYALE SALES BUCK INDUSTRY TREND
 LANSING, Mich., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Sales of Oldsmobile's all-new

1992 Eighty Eight Royale are up significantly from a year ago, reflecting widespread consumer enthusiasm to the intelligent engineering advances and sleek aerodynamic styling built into these full-size family sedans.
During the 10 days ended Oct. 31, Oldsmobile sold 4,661 Eighty Eight Royales, up 49 percent on a daily selling rate basis from the comparable period a year ago. The results also show a dramatic upward trend in sales from the Eighty Eight Royale's introduction last summer: Looking at the final 10-day period of each month, Oldsmobile sold 3,098 Eighty Eight Royales in the final 10 days of July, increasing to the 4,661 in the final 10 days of October for a 34-percent increase.
For the month of October, Eighty Eight Royale sales totaled 9,563 for a 30-percent increase in both straight volume and daily selling rates compared to 1990 levels. This also reflects a significant upward trend on a monthly basis: Eighty Eight Royale sales totaled 8,234 in September and 8,347 in August.
"This is clear evidence that even in a down market, consumers are quick to recognize outstanding value through intelligent engineering advances, contemporary new design, and innovative safety features," said Oldsmobile's General Sales and Service Manager David E. Lahti. "I expect this trend to continue as the U.S. economy rebounds from its current doldrums."
The Eighty Eight Royale family was completely redesigned and re-engineered for the 1992 model year. In addition to sleek styling and many technological advancements, the new Eighty Eight Royale contains many safety features demanded by today's families including air bags, child security rear door locks and available anti-lock brakes.
