     EHLERS ELECTED FORD VICE PRESIDENT PURCHASING AND SUPPLY STAFF
    DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Norman F. Ehlers has been elected vice president of Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) effective Jan. 1, Chairman Harold A. Poling announced today.
    Ehlers will succeed Clinton D. Lauer as vice president of Purchasing and Supply.  Lauer is retiring after more than 35 years with the company.
    Ehlers had been serving as executive director Production Purchasing for Ford North American Automotive Operations (NAAO) since May 1991.  He previously held a similar position at Ford of Europe.
    Ehlers joined Ford in 1962 as a purchase analyst for Ford Division. Following several assignments with the former Automotive Assembly Division, the Ford Division and NAAO, he became general purchasing agent and then director of the Chassis and Heavy Truck Parts Purchasing activity.
    He was appointed director of Purchasing and Transportation Services in 1983, and executive director of NAAO Production Purchasing in 1987 where he served until his Ford of Europe appointment in 1989.
    Ehlers was born in Mendota, Ill., in 1937.  He received bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from the University of Illinois, and has done post-graduate work at the University of Michigan.  He lives in Farmington Hills, Mich.
