Springfield High ensemble chosen to attend clinic
The Springfield High School Advanced Percussion Ensemble recently was selected to be one of five groups from around the world to perform at the 29th annual Western International Band Clinic in Seattle in November. Other groups performing include a high school band from Texas that has received numerous national awards.
The 20-member Springfield ensemble, directed by Dana Demant, performs all types of percussion music, from marching drumline to classical and ethnic music.
The clinic will draw band directors from all over the United States, and more than 650 high school honor band students will have the opportunity to rehearse with international guest conductors and flute soloist Jim Walker.
