EDS AND PYRAMID TECHNOLOGY FORM BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP TARGETING DATA CENTER ENVIRONMENTS

DALLAS, Nov., 17 ~PRNewswire~ -- EDS and Pyramid Technology Cor p., a leading supplier of high-availability, open system servers, today announced an expanded business relationship whereby EDS would provide integrated, open systems strategies to support Pyramid's business growth and its continuing penetration of the commercial data center market.
EDS will team with Pyramid to provide services that will assist Pyramid customers who are re-engineering their proprietary data centers to take advantage of the effectiveness and lower costs of client-server and open systems. The joint activities are an extension of an existing relationship between the two companies.
As a part of the expanded relationship, EDS will be responsible for all information systems management for Pyramid worldwide, including desktop and systems solutions maintenance support, data communications network management and applications development, as well as business process re-engineering and software consulting issues. The EDS-managed Pyramid facility will be a showcase environment for potential open data center customers.
"The requirements of the mainframe transition market make experienced integration and consulting partners, such as EDS, an invaluable asset in successfully moving customer applications into the open systems environment," said John Chen, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Pyramid. "EDS is not only a long-standing customer of Pyramid, but a partner in our pursuit of offering proprietary data center customers a complete open systems strategy for their re-engineering needs."
"The globalization of business provides a great opportunity for companies to become involved in strategic partnering that enables them to be more competitive," said Hank Johnston, president of EDS' Manufacturing and Distribution Services division. "As companies look for ways to re-engineer their operations, an integrated solution such as that offered by Pyramid with EDS will allow them to augment their existing mainframe-based data centers. This enables customers to achieve the inherent benefits of open systems while retaining their existing investment in proprietary technology."
